Josh’s 8th Birthday

We do birthday celebrations quietly around our place… usually just a few friends, and a simple activity.  Josh’s party was perfect this year:  3 friends came over for a biking birthday party.

and they’re off…

Little brother Zac was dropped (and picked up in the car) after a crash, but these four made it to the lake and back:

Sri Lanka Memories

What a day… our car battery was dead on the morning that I was supposed to be teaching on Sri Lanka in Sarah’s Geography class (we needed to be there on time!).
So the kids hopped on their bikes to ride 1.5 miles to our homeschool co-op:

We made it in time, whew!  I wore my sari in true Sri Lankan fashion (the shoulder is a little wonky):

I travelled to Sri Lanka with my family 30 years ago (!) in 1983.  Here’s my grandparents, who worked and lived there for about 5 years:

Doing this presentation brought back so many wonderful memories!

The devoted Mr. Garland took the boys camping with adventure guides to Indian Hills (an hour away).  Zip lines, super slides, BMX bike tracks, human foosball… the works!

10 on 10 :: March 2013

Ten photos on the tenth day of the month.

Sunday, March 10, 2013

What a bizarre 10 on 10… usually the tenth falls on a different day each month… hardly ever the same day of the week in consecutive months!  February’s 10 on 10 also fell on a Sunday (hello short 28 day month)…. so here goes another Sunday:

Every Sunday, church.  Because church is awesome.

Rubber Band Guns

I love it when our kids bring me a random flower they picked outside… I get the brightest eclectic arrangements!

Aaaaaand we have more basketball photos.

Josh and Sarah are in a weekly league.  I’m practicing how to shoot photos in gym lighting.  Action with low light at a distance.  It’s hard!

The league consists of 20 kids (4 teams of 5).  19 of the kids…  are boys.     Mmmmm-huh.  That’s our girl out there settin’ the trend.

Hoops was followed by pizza night!  One Hawaiian pizza (ham with pineapple) and the other with roasted Brussel sprouts and red bell pepper. Mmmmmm.

2013Mar08-077-2

Zac’s smelling the sprouts pizza like he loves it but in reality he wouldn’t touch that one with a 10-foot pole.  He’s only in it for the pineapple.

Update: Josh is over the moon… he’s sold 12 so far, and is starting on his second round of production. It’s so fun to see and hear him sawing and working away in the garage.

It’s probably been 15 years… but I sewed something!!!  Adventure Guide vests for my two handsome sons:
