Up up and Away


Swim lessons for Sarah, Josh and Zac in our neighbor's backyard.
I love that the kids ride their scooters up the street to their lessons.
Headed to swim lessons...
Race Across America (RAAM):  3000 mi bike race from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, MD.
Start was at the Oceanside Pier, teams left in 1-min increments.  Pretty awesome.
Our last running club of the year.
We have truly enjoyed this group!
Zac's Running Club charm necklace.  5 miles for every foot charm.  Special charms for holidays and 26.2, 50 and 75mi.

Josh sprained his thumb this week (he fell off his scooter).  Purple and blue all over.

Father's Day.  We love our Daddy!!!


Thank goodness for brown spots on our lawn.  Any excuse to get out the sprinkler is a good thing.

Seasonal Garlands :: Summer 2012


Greetings from the Garlands!

Helloooooo summer!

Spring 2012 Highlights:
  • Road trip to the California Central coast:  Open House at Cal Poly, SLO, Cambria, Santa Barbara and so much more
  • School year wrap up:  Sarah will start 4th grade, Josh 2nd grade, and Zac Kindergarten in the Fall
  • Running Club totals:  Sarah ran 75 miles, Josh 65mi, Zac 57mi and Rachel 0.5mi, if that.  So proud of them all.
  • Lowering the "cost per visit" rate on our Disneyland passes

We kept hearing: "How many days until my 5th birthday?"
Now Zac has his own July 10 birthday countdown chain. 
Sarah paid $5 for a very girly Easy Bake oven, along with a whole bunch of cookie, cake and pretzel mixes.
Oh my how she loves her Easy Bake.
As soon as she makes all of her mixes, it's history.


After Sunday evening church service, we headed to the park for a picnic dinner.
Feta tomato dip, corn salad, blueberries, and left over hawaiian pizza.
We call this kind of dinner a "snack-about."

Sarah's recent craft project:  Glitter Globes.
I'm horrible at laundry.  Wash, dry, fold, dispense.
I can get the wash and dry.  And I'm actually okay at the dispensing.  But folding is not my gifting.
Which means there is often a huge delay between the dry and dispense.
Jeff blesses me all the time by being my folder.
He's awesome like that.

The devoted Mr. Garland knows how to cut some cheese.

The never-ending hop scotch.  The girls have almost encircled the cul-de-sac.
We will forever love our Marble Works.  
School's out!  Yahoo!
We went "no screentime" (no computers/tvs) this week, to make sure we know how to do without.
Lots of legos and marble works activities replaced the screens.  Good stuff.

San Diego County Fair

We "steer" clear of the rides and head straight for the livestock.

Dog herding demonstration, herding ducks instead of sheep/cattle.
