Hollywood Bowl:

We ran all over the empty amphitheater, and had our picnic lunch on the top row. So fun!

We guestimated 6,000 seats.  Turned out we were way off… it holds over 17,000 viewers! I didn’t know you could see the Hollywood sign from the top rows (only).

The California Science Center (located in LA, near the Coliseum and USC) was a treasure!  Sort of like Sea World, the SF Exploratorium and a Children’s Museum all rolled into one, minus the price tag (aka it is always FREE).  And it has a real space shuttle! Crazy!

We remembered the big shuttle move from LAX to it’s home in the Science Center last year:

Aaaaaaack!  So exciting!  We got to see the Space Shuttle Endeavour!!! 25 missions to outer space!

Jeff has seen a shuttle land at Edwards AFB, and I’ve seen one launch in Florida (Discovery in July 1995), so it was such a treat to get to see a real shuttle up close. Every single exterior tile is numbered (and I’m sure every interior item is catalogued too).  Amazing.
