Last week, we got to go out for a sunset cruise with my mom and dad on their boat. While putting around, we saw this catamaran (a two-hulled ship), called the Li’l Explorer with a gal on top.
Turns out the gal in the red sweatshirt is Shannon Winter aka ‘the mom’. She and her 6 kids (ages 6m to 14yo) are gearing up to go sail around the world, while homeschooling and living life out on the seas.
Wow. That just blows my teeny tiny mind. So awesome for them to have this experience! Slightly jealous! Not jealous of the sea sickness that I would feel, however.
Courage and Shannon Winter and their six kids… Cassidy, Intrepid, Integrity, Innocence, Vitality and Valiant. Courage’s brother, “Uncle Loyal” will also be joining them. 9 people on this boat, sailing south.
How often will they do laundry? How often will they stop to buy food? So many questions. More details in this newspaper article. Very cool.
A few more snapshots from our cruise…
Sea gulls spied our Ritz cracker snacks and wanted some, so they hovered behind us most of the way. Such delightful entertainment!
Zac was trying to ‘shoot’ the gulls:
